You might not be stuck. You might just be mid-rep.

If you’ve been feeling bored, frustrated, or quietly wondering whether you should give up on what you’re working towards, you’re currently experiencing something many designers go through.
That feeling usually shows up right before progress does, even though it doesn’t feel like it.
Now I could give you some generic advice like “keep going” or “don’t give up” or maybe even share this picture with you:

But that kind of advice doesn’t actually help.
What does help is understanding why this stage feels so uncomfortable, and how to see it differently.
There’s one idea I keep coming back to.
Without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Repetition builds reputation.
Now, this isn’t some magical secret only the 1% know.
Instead, it’s an often overlooked truth about how real progress actually happens.
See, most think growth comes from doing something new.
A new offer, maybe a new direction, or a new strategy.
And sometimes that helps.
But more often, progress comes from doing the same kind of work again, with slightly more clarity and skill each time.
You don’t master brand strategy after one project.
You don’t become confident with clients after one call.
You don’t understand algorithms after one post.
You get there through reps.
And yes, that part can be boring.
You post, nothing happens.
You improve your work. No one notices.
You invest the hours, nothing changes.
This is where most designers abandon ship.
Not because they’re bad.
But because it feels like it’s not working.
I’ve been there.
When I first started sharing my work online, I remember hitting publish on videos and posts and immediately wanting to close the app.
I stumbled over my words.I second-guessed every sentence.I wondered if anyone cared
or worse, if they were watching and judging.
But I kept going.
I kept showing up.I kept posting content.
Slowly, I got better at writing hooks.More confident on camera.Clearer when explaining
my ideas.
Not all at once. Not dramatically.
Just… over time.
It didn’t feel impressive in the moment.
But it compounded.
The 50th time you do something, you’re better than the first. The 100th time, you’re clearer. The 200th time, people trust you.
Repetition builds competence.
Competence builds confidence.
And confidence builds trust my friends.
That’s the payoff of staying in the boring middle.
So here’s what I want you to take away from this 👇
If you’re tempted to pivot, pause for a moment and ask yourself:
Am I actually stuck… or am I just mid-rep?
Progress often looks invisible while it’s forming.
Just like in the gym.
It doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger.
So whatever you are working towards currently, keep this top of mind!

Abi 😊
